Rafael Cortes — Boulder, Colorado
I'm Rafael — a 17-year-old filmmaker and visual artist based in Boulder, Colorado. My path into this world wasn't linear; it started in quiet moments alone, absorbing films that made me see differently, and slowly became something I couldn't ignore. Today I work with instinct as my foundation, while learning that the best work often comes from collaboration and intention working together. I'm early in my journey, but I know the direction — and I'm building toward it one frame at a time.
My work spans film, photography, and graphic design — not as separate disciplines, but as one connected language. I think about energy the way an interior designer thinks about a room: the lighting, the tempo, the music, the composition all need to be in conversation with each other. Right now I'm building that voice through short films and cinematic content, learning what it means to make something that feels cohesive from the first frame to the last.
Cinematic narrative — finding the emotional truth in a single frame or an entire story.
Intuition-led and detail-obsessed — building visuals that feel lived-in and intentional.
The space where stillness meets motion — in mountain light, city noise, and the moment before a song changes everything.
